Good morning, Tiger fans! It is time for the Friday edition of Auburn Morning Rush.

The first noteworthy news story of the day is Auburn student-athletes performance in the classroom, especially among first-year students.

Next, two of Auburn Softball’s highest-rated recruits for the 2022 cycle added “All-American” to their list of accomplishments.

Finally, a former Auburn slugger is climbing up the coaching ladder after receiving a promotion to a full-time assistant for a program in the Sun Belt Conference.

81 Student Athletes named to First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll

Newcomers from all Auburn sports had a great season off the field, as a total of 81 first-year students were awarded First-Year SEC Academic Honors.

According to the SEC, A student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution.

Equestrian, softball, men’s swimming and diving and women’s swimming and diving had eight honorees.

Two incoming softball players named High School All-Americans

The future of Auburn Softball is bright, as two incoming Freshman have been named High School All-Americans by two publications.

[autotag]Axe Milanowski[/autotag] was honored as a First Team All-American by Extra Innings Softball. The newcomer from Dothan earned the honor after a senior season that ended with 14 home runs and 77 RBI. She also struck out 79 batters and earned 15 wins in the circle. Milanowski won 3A Player of the Year, as well as First Team All-State honors during her senior season at Houston Academy.

Pitcher [autotag]Emmah Rolfe[/autotag] earned Second Team All-American honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association after an incredible season that saw her strikeout 346 batters while tossing 10 shutouts, four no-hitters and two perfect games for Bob Jones High School in Madison. Rolfe was named the Class 7A Player of the Year in 2022, and enters Auburn as the No. 6 pitcher in the nation according to Fastpitch Network.

Niko Buentello earns full-time coaching gig

After serving as a volunteer assistant coach for Georgia State Baseball in 2022, former Auburn Baseball star [autotag]Niko Buentello[/autotag] has earned a full-time gig with the Panthers, to serve as an assistant coach.

In 2016, Buentello started all 54 games of his lone season at Auburn at first base. At the plate, Buentello hit for a .332 average with 11 home runs and 58 RBI.
