Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett gave Auburn fans a ride they won’t ever forget.

The duo finished as runner-ups in the 2021 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship on Friday after losing to Tennessee’s Adam Walton and Pat Harper 7-6, 6-2, 13-11 in the title match.

“We have done unbelievable well this week and have stuck together on the court and our games complement each other, I think,” Maclean said. “It was such a tough match today…We left it all out there.

“I couldn’t be prouder of us coming from being friends before college to him coming over.”

Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds is proud of how his players competed.

“I hurt for these guys and not being able to walk away with the trophy, but they poured their hearts out all week.” he said. “They grew so much from this week, both on and off the court, being a part of the tournament. It the end it came down to a couple of points and I couldn’t be more proud of them. Obviously, they walk off the court with their head high and hungry for more.”
