Auburn commit Labaron Philon named Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year
Labaron Philon had a dominant junior season at Baker High School and the accolades keeps coming in.
MaxPreps named him their Alabama high school basketball Player of the Year on Tuesday and on Wednesday Gatorade named him their Alabama Player of the Year.
The junior averaged 35 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 steals per game and led Baker to a 25-7 record and an appearance in the Class 7A State quarterfinals.
The 6-foot-4, 177-pound point guard committed to Auburn on Feb. 3. He is the No. 42 overall player and No. 6 point guard in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Alabama in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
He is joined by five-star point guard Tahaad Pettifort and four-star center Peyton Marshall in Auburn’s recruiting class. The class is No. 3 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings
