Auburn among biggest movers in this week’s USA TODAY Sports re-rank

The Auburn Tigers got back into the win column last Saturday, doing so in impressive fashion.

Auburn scored 24 points and gained 301 yards in the first half of their 27-13 win over Mississippi State last Saturday. The strong offensive output was enough for the Tigers to coast to their first SEC win of the 2023 season.

Auburn’s win was deemed impressive by Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports, who bumped the Tigers seven spots in the latest re-rank. Heading into this week’s game at Vanderbilt, Auburn resides in the No. 63 slot, up from last week’s position of No. 70.

Speaking of this week’s opponent, the Vanderbilt Commodores dropped six spots to No. 115 after falling to Ole Miss on the road, 33-7, last Saturday. Looking at Auburn’s remaining opponents… Arkansas checks in at No. 92 this week, New Mexico State climbed 12 spots to No. 70 after beating Louisiana Tech, and Alabama remains at No. 9 following their bye week.

In Myerberg’s ranking, Boise State is the biggest climber after defeating Wyoming, 32-7. Their win pushes them up 18 places to No. 69. Wyoming’s loss to the Broncos coincidentally causes them to suffer the largest drop, as they fell 21 places to No. 50.
