ESPN survey lists Chapman, Olson likely trade candidates originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

It certainly appears that the Athletics are preparing to be sellers this offseason.

With recent reports claiming that Oakland is preparing to tear down and trade away key players such as All-Star first baseman Matt Olson, among others, the A's appear to be headed towards a rebuild.

ESPN surveyed 20 anonymous team executives and MLB insiders to gauge how they believe the offseason will unfold and what sort of moves we might see.

One of the questions presented to those who were surveyed, asked, "who will be the biggest name traded this winter?" Among the players listed, were the two biggest names on the A's roster.

Both Olson and Matt Chapman have each anchored a corner infield position for the A's since their debuts in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

The two sluggers have been named All-Stars, Gold Glove award winners and have finished in the Top-10 in MVP voting in each other their careers. Having provided the A's with stellar defense and a powerful lefty/righty duo in the heart of the order for years, it's no surprise as to why Olson and Chapman are likely trade candidates.

With the A's appearing as if they're entering a rebuild of sorts, the two cornerstone players should command a high price tag for any team interested in acquiring either of them.
