Marisnick was in the lineup batting ninth and playing center field one day after George Springer injured his left shoulder.
Houston optioned outfielder Kyle Tucker to Triple-A Fresno in a corresponding move.
Springer was listed as day to day by the club but could possibly be available for the series finale with Seattle. The Astros have an off-day Thursday before opening their highly anticipated World Series rematch set with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
Springer injured the shoulder in the first inning on Tuesday when he dove for a ball in an attempt to keep it from rolling to the fence. He was replaced when the Astros returned to play defense in the bottom of the second inning.
Marisnick is batting .192 with seven homers and 19 RBIs in 71 games with Houston this season. The 27-year-old batted .323 with three homers and eight RBIs in 17 games at Fresno.
Tucker is hitting .156 with no homers and three RBIs in 16 games with Houston. The 21-year-old is batting .304 with 14 homers and 66 RBIs in 81 games at Fresno.
