Asher softball team starts season off at 5-0

Mar. 12—ASHER — The Asher High School slowpitch softball ran its record to 5-0 with identical 12-0 home wins over Macomb last week.

Asher started a busy week on Monday by hosting Wynnewood. The Lady Indians are at Wewoka tonight and are scheduled to host Vanoss at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Game 1

Asher 12, Macomb 0

Asher pushed across six runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on five more in the second to pull away early.

The Lady Indians piled up 15 hits, led by Magi Melton and Cadence Leba, who finished with three hits each. Melton finished 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored and Leba went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Payton Leba finished 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored and Preslee Taylor also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Alexis Johnston cracked a double for Asher and both Makenah Templeton and Charlee Crowley finished 1-for-2 with RBIs.

Game 2

Asher 12, Macomb 0

The Lady Indians led just 3-0 after the first inning but scored five times in the bottom of the second and four more in the third frame to end the game early.

Alexis Johnston led Asher at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two triples, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored from her leadoff spot.

Magi Melton finished 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for the hosts and Payton Leba went 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI.

Moss pushes past Stonewall with late surge

STONEWALL — Moss broke open a tight game by scoring eight runs over the final two innings in a 13-4 win over host Stonewall Friday evening.

The Lady Longhorns (1-4) were scheduled to meet host Maud and Byng Monday in the Maud Festival and battle host Roff and Vanoss in a three-way set to begin at noon today.

Moss 13, Stonewall 4

Moss led just 5-4 after the Lady Longhorns scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning.

But the Lady Pirates scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and added five runs in the seventh to seal the outcome.

Stonewall collected nine total hits in the game. Sierra Lumbert led the SHS offense, going 3-for-3 with a double.

Lilly Wyche finished 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, an RBI and two runs scored from her leadoff spot for the Lady Longhorns.

Kadyn Sutton also had two hits for the home team.

Tanna Brown led a 15-hit Moss attack, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gracelyn Wulf finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Shay Stambaugh blasted a home run and had five RBIs and Laney Moreno also homered for Moss.
