Armando Bacot is brutally honest about North Carolina’s season

There was a great deal of excitement last offseason for the North Carolina Tar Heels. One-by-one four of the starting five from last year’s Final Four team announced they were returning for another year. That made the Tar Heels the preseason favorites to cut down the net in April.

Instead, North Carolina will very likely miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time in over a decade.

Thursday’s loss to Virginia was final stamp on a very ugly season in which the Tar Heels showed only inconsistency. Following the game, Armando Bacot was brutally honest about the team this season, saying they just weren’t that good.

Bacot had another fine year in Chapel Hill, averaging a double-double while setting a few UNC records along the way. However, injuries plagued him all season. He hurt his shoulder at Indiana and his ankle at Virginia.

He re-injured the ankle again in the ACC Tournament, which hindered him against Virginia.

One has to wonder what truly happened this year where this team played that bad and just couldn’t get it together. It’s unfortunate because there is a lot of talent on this team, they just really struggled to put it all together on a consistent basis.
