Boston University held Sam Houston State scoreless for the first 5:11 and four players hit three-points shots during an opening 18-5 run as the Terriers beat the Bearkats 72-59 on Monday to win the Jacksonville Bracket of the inaugural Jacksonville Class Tournament at UNF Arena.

Senior guard Javante McCoy, who scored 18 points when the Terriers (4-2) beat Northern Illinois 76-58 in Sunday's first-round game, opened the game with a 3-pointer and then assisted on a basket by senior forward Sukhmail Mathon.

That ignited a run in which five players scored. Sam Houston missed its first six shots.

Mathon had nine points and 11 rebounds. Savion Flagg led the Bearkats (2-3) with 15 points. Sam Houston got to the championship game by beating Arkansas-Little Rock 77-59.

The Jacksonville Bracket was made up of teams from mid-major conferences. In the Duval Bracket, for teams from major conferences, SMU played Loyola-Marymount in the consolation game, followed by Florida State vs. Missouri in the championship game. Both were completed after the Times-Union's print deadline.

Little Rock 67, Northern Illinois 60

Arkansas Little-Rock jumped out to an early 15-point lead, stretched it to as many as 22 points in the second half, then held on to beat Northern Illinois at UNF Arena in the Jacksonville Bracket consolation game.

Junior forward Deantoni Gordon scored nine points early as the Trojans (4-2) jumped out to a 24-11 lead, then made it 34-18 at halftime.

Little Rock led 57-35 at one point in the second half before the Huskies (1-4) staged a rally led by the outside shooting of senior forward Zool Kueth, who hit four 3-pointers in the final eight minutes. But the Trojans' lead never went below the final margin.

Gordon led Little Rock with 16 points and nine rebounds, senior forward Nikola Maric had 15 points and seven rebounds and Mario Lukic had 11 points off the bench. Kalen Thornton led the Huskies with 15 points and Zueth had 12.
