Ariana Grande Was the Most Popular Costume for Halloween 2018
Ariana Grande has been everywhere this year — on top of the charts, thanks to her new album, Sweetener; in tattoo parlors, getting (and covering up!) new ink; hanging out in her luxe New York City apartment with the cutest roommate ever; and prepping for her next big tour. Now there's one more location for you to add to your list: As of October 31, Ari's been immortalized forever on your Instagram feed as one of the most popular Halloween costumes for 2018.
Of course, Ari-inspired costumes are nothing new, and her look is pretty easy to DIY yourself. All you need is a super-long ponytail (or mega hair extensions for the night), thigh-high boots, and a Starbucks cup to sip strategically throughout the evening. But this year, even celebs got in on the fun and paid homage in a variety of ways. Jenna Ortega pulled out all the stops when she opted for two Ariana costumes: The flesh-toned, nipple-featuring bodysuit from the "God Is a Woman" music video, and a couples costume that featured Asher Angel as a pre-breakup Pete Davidson. Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian used the pink dress Ari wore on the Tonight show as inspiration for her look.
Some Ariana costumes had even more levels to them. Artist Rebeca Soto used a @NotAllGeminis meme as the inspiration for her #Grandson costume. Bustle editor Cristina Arreola made a play on both Ariana's last name and the artist's favorite beverage (but we're pretty sure the Starbucks baristas would look at you funny if you asked for a "grande latte" the way the singer's last name is actually pronounced). Other fans opted for the body paint look courtesy of the "God Is a Woman" music video. While Ariana herself shared some of her faves on her Instagram stories over Halloweekend, the 24-hour limit on the platform has long since passed. At least we have the memories — and the Sweetener tour to look forward to.
