Area volleyball players receive all-state, all-district honors
Nov. 14—OSKALOOSA — The Iowa Girls Coaches Association recently released their all-district and all-state volleyball teams on Monday with a couple of local athletes earning recognition.
Pella Christian's Chloe Huisman was a fourth team all-state selection in Class 2A. The junior setter became the Eagles' all-time leader in assists this season while also passing 2,000 assists in her career. She ended up with 691 on the year to go along with 111 kills, 252 digs, 20 blocks and 37 aces.
Huisman also earned all-district honors along with teammate Annika Van Dyke. The senior hitter finished with 168 kills on the year while adding 180 digs, 22 blocks and 22 aces.
In 4A, Pella's Katie Scheckel received all-district honors in the Central district. Scheckel did a little bit of everything in her sophomore season for the Lady Dutch as she finished with 322 kills, 307 digs and 382 assists while passing 1,000 total assists in her career.
