Frederick! Rizzo, Freeman share hilarious moment in rundown originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Getting into a rundown isn't fun. Someone is chasing after you at full speed, closing in rapidly to slap a tag on your back.

But Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo found a way to make that moment humorous with his Braves counterpart, Freddie Freeman.

Freeman got into a rundown in the fourth inning Sunday while attempting to advance from second to third base on a Travis d'Arnaud sac fly. Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward, instead of throwing home, fired a strike to Rizzo, cutting off the throw in the middle of the diamond.

A rundown between second and third ensued, with Rizzo throwing to Kris Bryant and Bryant then to second baseman David Bote. The ball wound up back in Rizzo's glove, and, well, hilarity ensued.

As he chased Freeman back to second, Rizzo yelled "Frederick" and "Freddie" to the Braves first baseman, smiling ear to ear and letting out a laugh as he tossed the ball to Javy Báez, who tagged Freeman out.

Even Freeman couldn't help but laugh.

Rizzo and Freeman reflected on the moment later in the game, the former celebrating his all-out effort and the latter celebrating the fact Rizzo couldn't catch up to him.

"I was doing sprints earlier [Sunday], too," Rizzo added.
