Annual Lighthouse 5K, Fun Run, Night Fest set for Feb. 18 in St. Augustine

The 39th annual Lighthouse 5k Run/Walk & Fun Run and Night Fest on Feb. 18 will be presented by The Junior Service League of St. Augustine at 81 Lighthouse Ave. in St. Augustine.

The inaugural race in 1983 was originally titled the “Bud Light Twilight Lighthouse Run.” The Lighthouse 5K is a chipped race that serves as a qualifier for the famed Gate River Run.

“We are thrilled to offer this annual race, starting and finishing at the beautiful St. Augustine Lighthouse on Anastasia Island,” said Carice Schuster, president of The Junior Service League of St. Augustine. “We are fortunate to host one of St. Augustine's oldest 5Ks at this important landmark."

The League hosts the Lighthouse 5K & Fun Run each year to support the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum.  Proceeds from the Lighthouse 5K Run/Walk & Fun Run benefit numerous JSL service projects and provide financial support for local nonprofit organizations.

In addition to the race, Night Fest is offered to the community from 3-7 p.m. Feb. 18, a free event that includes children’s activities, museum exhibits, and a chance to climb the lighthouse in the evening.

Activities for children will include face painting, arts and crafts, STEAM projects, and photos with pirates. The event will also include live music, pizza, wine, and beer.
