We've all imagined that moment.

We're at the ballpark, the batter swings and the baseball is launched in our direction. We've played that scenario over and over in our minds, and we've even added some imaginary commentary to help describe how great our inevitable catch would be.

For Marc Schwartz, the play-by-play voice for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League, this typical dream scenario became his reality earlier this week.

Schwartz was on the call when a foul ball came flying toward his broadcast booth. Without missing a beat, Schwartz caught the ball and provided live commentary of his play.

And don't worry. It was everything our own words would be if we were in the same situation.

As you see in the video, the catch was caught on video by several fans. Beat writer Mike Ashmore synced up the catch with the commentary in a video that's now gone viral.

Here’s a review of Schwartz’s call:

“I make the catch on the foul ball. I am very proud of myself! I hope somebody got video of that – as I caught it on the fly. Boy, am I impressive. What a play by me!”

“What a play by me.” That's perfect.

Schwartz has been having fun with the play on social media, even reenacting his celebration.

Tremendous.

It's a reminder that baseball announcers are just like the rest of us.

Sure, they might have a better seat and a more exciting job. At the heart of it though, they're still fans.
