Angels place 2B Kinsler (groin) on DL

The Los Angeles Angels placed second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 10-day disabled list Saturday due to a groin injury.

Kinsler made his season debut on Friday against the Oakland Athletics and went 1-for-4 but the injury tightened up on him overnight.

Infielder Nolan Fontana was recalled to replace Kinsler on the roster.

Kinsler, 36, was dealing with the injury late in spring training and missed Thursday's opener. The four-time All-Star was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in the offseason.

Zack Cozart was slated to start at second base in the Saturday afternoon game vs. Oakland.

Fontana, 26, played in 12 games for the Angels last season and went 1-for-20.
