Angels' Anthony Rendon won't be charged after incident on opening day with fan, per report

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon will not be charged after an altercation with a fan on Opening Day, the Los Angeles Times reported.

On March 30, during a game against the Athletics in Oakland, Rendon was seen on video grabbing a fan's shirt, who was heckling him throughout the game.

Rendon cursed at the fan after the Angels lost the game, saying "You called me a (expletive), huh?"

The Oakland Police Department investigated the altercation, but no charges were filed and the case was closed. Major League Baseball suspended Rendon for four games and fined him an undisclosed amount.

Rendon said he had apologized to the fan. "I let my emotions get the best of me,” he said at the time.

The 32-year-old Rendon is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Angels. Rendon is currently on the injured list with a left groin strain and has not played since May 13.

He is hitting .301 with one home run and 20 RBI in 30 games this season for the Angels (30-29), who are in fourth place in the AL West.
