Andrew Booth Jr. lands here in this latest USA Today Sports mock

We are just a day away from the start of the 2022 NFL draft, and there will be a lot of questions answered come the end of Thursday night.

As we’ve seen throughout the draft process, cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. is the only Tiger we believe it’s safe to say is a lock to go in the first round. The question we’ll finally have answered though, is where he’ll end up.

In their most recent first-round mock draft, our friends over at USA Today Sports have Booth landing in what I believe is a nice landing spot.

Via USA Today Sports:

21. New England Patriots – CB Andrew Booth Jr., Clemson: Georgia LB Nakobe Dean is tempting, and maybe the Pats can move up in Round 2 to get him. But a fourth-ranked defense badly needs to replenish at corner after losing J.C. Jackson in free agency. Booth is the type of versatile player – comfortable in any coverage technique or scheme – this organization tends to value.

We’ve seen a few mocks have Booth land with the Patriots, and while I do see a path where he is selected sooner, the Patriots are a likely destination for the stud CB. This makes even more sense with their mentioned loss of All-Pro CB J.C. Jackson.

Versatility is a good thing to bring up with Booth as you can throw him into any scheme, and he is likely to succeed. He fits well into multiple zone schemes and if needed, he has shown the ability to be left on an island and make plays.

Head coach Bill Belichick would have a hard time passing on Booth if he found a way to slip to them at No.21.
