Among teams aiming for first Super Bowl, Buffalo Bills rank No. 1

Not only did the Buffalo Bills get a couple of cracks in a row at winning a Super Bowl back in the day, the club came within one game of earning its first trip to the big game this year.

Naturally, that gives Buffalo some optimism that the team’s first Super Bowl victory could be on the horizon. Adding to that hope recently was NFL.com.

In a list of every team in the league that has yet to win a Super Bowl, the Bills ranked as the one most likely to bring home their first title in 2021:

All in all, the Bills have the necessary ingredients — fantastic coaching staff, astute GM, star quarterback, pass-catching weapons, experienced defense — to take the next step and hit the Super Bowl.

Overall, there are 12 teams in the NFL that have yet to win a Super Bowl. This upcoming season certainly will not be a “now or never” scenario for the Bills, but with the way things are lined up for the franchise, it is a prime opportunity to get itself off this list.

Looking ahead to two years from now, the Bills could very likely lose both of their coordinators, Brian Daboll and Leslie Frazier, to head-coaching jobs. In addition, most of Buffalo’s core will still be in their prime, but one critical contract will come into the fold: Josh Allen’s.

Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane has proven he’s a wizard with the salary cap, but it’s still a much easier thing to navigate when your quarterback is on his rookie contract. The 2021 season will be the final year Allen will be in that threshold.
