Among every head coach in the Power Five, where does Hugh Freeze stand?

The Auburn Tigers are looking to begin a new era led by new head coach Hugh Freeze. Freeze brings a lot to the table including prior experience as a head coach in the SEC West. There are a lot of great coaches, however, so the question is where does Freeze look when compared to his peers?

Patrick Conn of College Sports Wire ranked every head coach in the Power Five. Conn listed Freeze at No. 30, which gives him eighth place in the SEC.

The coaches listed ahead of Freeze include Nick Saban of Alabama, Kirby Smart of Georgia, Brian Kelly of LSU, Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss, Josh Heupel of Tennessee, Mark Stoops of Kentucky and Jimbo Fisher of Texas A&M in that order.

Conn’s explanation on Freeze’s ranking:

“After two very disappointing seasons on the Plains, Auburn fired Bryan Harsin and brought Hugh Freeze back to the SEC. It really can’t be much worse than what they put on the field in 2022. The offense should be much improved from last year with Payton Thorne likely getting the starting job over Robby Ashford. With several key transfers coming in, expect Auburn to at least make it to the postseason. The question is can Freeze close the gap between War Eagle and the Tide?”

Freeze will have his work cut out for him to help the Tigers reclaim their spot as an annual threat in the SEC.
