Thus far, when it comes to what to buy, social media platform TikTok has yet to let us down.

So, when we saw that a perfect nifty “kitchen must-have” - a liquid soap pump and sponge caddy - was doing the rounds, we had to take a closer look.

The fuss began when user @toponlinefinds posted a video of herself using the Amazon gadget to decant her washing up liquid, pump the exact right amount onto her sponge and then store it there so as to not get soap all over the side of the sink.

And it’s clear that we weren’t the only ones who were impressed, as the video has racked up 2.7 million likes so far and almost 10,000 comments.

“Need this,” wrote one follower, while another added: “I was just saying the other day that something like this should exist!”

The kitchen gadget, available for just £12.99 on Amazon, might not look like anything new but it is, in fact, an upgrade on an existing design.

The traditional design required two hands to extract the dish soap, but this new product integrates a sponge, tray and soap dispenser that allows the user to extract the soap with one hand.

It will also help save money as gravity drains the excess dish soap back into the container, and means that you’re not wasting any of the precious liquid.

More than 300 people have already left reviews on the online retailer’s website, echoing the praise lumped on it over on TikTok.

“I’m so pleased with this purchase and appreciate how it works. I can place the sponge into the holder in between washes, instead of the sink side,” wrote one, while another added:

“I no longer juggle with the soap bottle and I buy the big bulky fairy liquid. And it looks so cute in my tiny kitchen.”

We’ve never been so excited to wash up.
