Amazon has a new program that rivals Kickstarter — here's how you can try the first 3 products before everyone else

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

If you’ve wanted to weigh in on which devices Amazon should build next, you’re in luck! With this in mind, the massive retailer created a new program called Build It that “gives you a say in what products we build next.”

How does Build It work?

Amazon presents everyday shoppers with some of its favorite concepts and you tell them which ones you want to see built by simply pre-ordering them.

If a concept reaches its preorder total in 30 days, Amazon will begin the building process and supporters who were among the first to preorder will get the product in-hand before everyone else.

What’s the pricing?

Preordering these prototypes also affects how much you pay — in a good way.

When you preorder, you lock in a special price and will only be charged if the product is made and shipped.

In the event that the preorder goal isn’t met, the product won’t be built and you will not be charged. As Amazon puts it, “It’s low risk, high reward and a whole lot of fun.”

What products are currently available for preorder?

Preorders for three prototype products are currently available right now and the special promo price is only available through March 19!

The three smart Build It products that are currently live include:

According to Amazon, at least one of the three products will definitely be built based on shoppers’ preorders. If they each hit their preorder goals, they’ll build them all.

The Smart Sticky Note Printer uses voice-to-print technology, so you can use this little handy gadget completely hands-free if you’d like. Use it to print shopping lists, to-do lists, reminders, calendar events or even puzzles. The only requirement: just ask.

Oh, and what’s even better is that you don’t need any ink cartridges or toners for this printer as it uses thermal technology. So, it’s better for your pockets and the environment.

Shoppers loved this device so much that it hit its preorder goal in just three days. For those who preordered the device, shipping begins between July and September 2021. If you haven’t preordered the Smart Sticky Note Printer yet but would like to, you can still do so before March 19 to lock in the special preorder price, above.

Pair this sleek smart scale up with the Echo Show to view nutritional information. All you have to do is simply say, “Alexa, ask Smart Scale how much sugar is in these strawberries,” for example, and you’ll instantly get your answer.

The Smart Nutrition Scale is currently available for a special preorder price of $34.99.

Lastly, if you and your family or roommates have a hard time staying organized and on time, the Amazon Smart Cuckoo Clock is a must-have.

The device works with Alexa and features 60 LEDs, a mechanical pop-out cuckoo bird (old school, but make it modern) and built-in speakers for timer alerts and alarms. It even has a removable pendulum for some added flair and function for when you mount it on your wall or place it on a shelf.

Just like a standard clock or timer, simply say, “Alexa, set a 20-minute timer,” or “Alexa, set a dinner alarm for 6:0 p.m.” and you’re good to go.

The Smart Cuckoo Clock is currently available for a special preorder price of $79.99.
