Kloots, a GlenOak High graduate, and her partner Alan Bersten started the finale with a routine that combined a Viennese Waltz with a Paso Doble. They danced to "Never Tear Us Apart" by Bishop Briggs.

It was a routine that required a balance to succeed.

Hough said Kloots and Bersten found, "that balance perfectly."

"The chemistry was sizzling. The passion was scolding," Tonioli told the pair. "You have beauty, talent and range."

Inaba also praised the couple's performance but noted there were some stumbles.

The pair scored 38 points (out of 40).

The other finalists scored in this routine:

  • Siwa with Jenna Johnson (40)

  • Shumpert with Karagach (40)

  • Rigsby with Cheryl Burke (36)

Second Routine: Freestyle

Kloots and Bersten finished with a perfect score of 40 in the freestyle (and final) routine.

Prior to her final dance, she said: "It's been such an incredible journey and winning tonight would be a dream come true."

The pair danced to Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars" in a performance the judges called special.

"You are hope and resiliency personified," Inaba told Kloots. "I want to thank you for the journey you've taken on before Dancing with the Stars until this dance right now."
