Ally Zazzara named National Player of the Week

Tennessee redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ally Zazarra was named the Soccer News Women’s National Player of the Week on Monday.

The Lady Vols (9-6-4, 3-4-3 SEC) defeated No. 17 Xavier, 1-0 in overtime, during the first-round of the NCAA Tournament at Corcoran Field in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Zazzara recorded a career-high 15 saves against the Musketeers. She tied a Tennessee program record for saves in a match with Sarah Shively, who set the mark against Florida on Nov. 7, 1996.

Zazzara played 110 minutes against Xavier and has appeared in all of the Lady Vols’ matches this season.

Tennessee continues NCAA Tournament play Friday at Nebraska (15-3-3, 7-1-2 Big Ten). Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. EST in Lincoln, Nebraska.
