DJ SHORT: Sandy Alcantara is one of the Marlins players hit by COVID-19 last season, but he was very good when healthy, posting a 3.00 ERA over seven starts while keeping the ball on the ground and making improvements with his strikeout and walk rates. His raw stuff, though, has always suggested the potential for more and it finally looks like he could be poised to realize it in his aged 25 season.

So far this year, Alcantara is showing a slight uptick in what was already very good velocity, but he's also switched up his pitch mix a bit with increased usage of a changeup. In turn, the swinging strikes are on the rise. That's what we wanted to see for a couple of years now. If Alcantara can keep that up, we could be looking at a top 25 fantasy starter this season.
