Is Alabama softball's Tuscaloosa Regional in the NCAA Tournament delayed by weather?

Alabama softball opens the 2024 Tuscaloosa Regional in the NCAA Tournament on Friday against USC Upstate, but possible impending weather has caused the tournament schedule to be adjusted.

The tournament schedule for Saturday has been changed as of Friday night, with games being moved up to avoid weather. Scattered thunderstorms are expected for Saturday morning with a 70% chance of rain during the day and a 60% chance during the night.

The Crimson Tide is making its 25th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and hosting its 19th straight regional. The field includes USC Upstate, Clemson and Southeastern Louisiana at Rhoads Stadium.

The winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional advances to face the winner of the Knoxville Regional in the super regional round. No. 3 overall seed Tennessee headlines the Knoxville Regional along with Dayton, Miami (Ohio) and Virginia.

Alabama softball Tuscaloosa Regional schedule changed for Saturday

Saturday's games have been moved up now be played at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Games were originally slated to be played at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

This means that Alabama will take on Southeastern Louisiana at 10:30 a.m., with the winner of that game advancing to the regional final on Sunday and the loser playing the winner between Clemson and USC Upstate on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Games will be able to be streamed on ESPN's family of networks.
