Alabama ranks No. 5 in ESPN’s way-too-early Top 25

The Georgia Bulldogs thumped the TCU Horned Frogs 65-7 in Monday night’s national championship game to cap off the 2022 college football season. The Dawgs finished the year undefeated and were the first back-to-back champs since the Crimson Tide did it a decade ago.

Headed into 2023, Georgia will certainly be a favorite to win the national title alongside the usual suspects like Ohio State and Alabama. The USC Trojans also look to make their first appearance with Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams back for a final year.

ESPN released a way-too-early top 25 rankings for the 2023 college football season and the Crimson Tide enter the list at No. 5. With no quarterback and question marks at skill positions, Nick Saban will have some serious work cut out for him. Georgia claimed the top spot followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State. Five members of the SEC make the list with four coming in the top 10.
