Alabama moves up in latest College Football Playoff rankings, nearing the impossible
In the latest College Football Playoff rankings, Alabama moved up one spot to No. 7. While moving up a single spot may not seem like much, it puts the Crimson Tide one step closer to doing what many had considered impossible: being the first two-loss team to make the CFP.
Tennessee‘s loss to South Carolina didn’t just knock the Vols out of contention for the playoff, it decimated the historical run the team was on.
However, that loss helped Alabama in freeing up a spot for the Tide to move into.
Last week may have been highlighted by the Tennessee upset, but it was loaded with close games from the top teams, proving that not one team has solidified itself as safe from an upset.
Alabama will not be playing in the SEC championship game, LSU will represent the West in the matchup against the East champion, Georgia.
A route for the Crimson Tide to be ranked in the top four and make the playoffs exists. It’s not likely, but it’s become a whole lot more probable given the latest rankings.
Auburn will travel to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl, the final game of the 2022 regular season, and Alabama must play as if the playoffs are on the line.
