No. 2 Alabama and Auburn squared off Saturday in the 2021 Iron Bowl at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Crimson Tide defeated the Tigers 24-22 in four overtimes.

Alabama improved to 11-1 (7-1 SEC) with the victory, its sixth in a row. Auburn fell to 6-6 (3-5) with the loss, its fourth in a row.

After Alabama and Auburn traded punts for more than a quarter to open the game, the Tigers finally broke the ice with a 15-yard touchdown pass from T.J. Finley to Kobe Hudson. Finley threw a pass to tight end John Samuel Shenker over the middle of the field, and for a moment it looked as if it would bounce off Shenker's right hand and fall incomplete. Shenker, however, hauled in a one-handed grab with an Alabama defender at his heels and fell to the ground for a Tigers first down.

Cecil Hurt won't be at this year's Iron Bowl, but his presence will be felt in the press box at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn paid tribute to the longtime Tuscaloosa News columnist, who died Tuesday at age 62 from complications from pneumonia.

AU set aside a press box seat with Hurt's photo, roses and a sign that read "In memory, Cecil Hurt, The Tuscaloosa News." A credential with his name was also printed and placed at the seat.

Hurt started working for The Tuscaloosa News in 1982 as a sportswriter. He eventually became a columnist and sports editor for the newspaper and covered the Crimson Tide for almost four decades.
