Alabama baseball vs. Wake Forest in NCAA Tournament delayed due to medical situation
WINSTON-SALEM — Game 1 of Alabama baseball vs. Wake Forest in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional round will be delayed due to a non-game-related medical event at David F. Couch Ballpark.
At 10:57 a.m., Alabama baseball announced via Twitter that the gates would not open 90 minutes before the game and the game would not start at noon due to a medical situation. Fans were allowed to enter the ballpark at 12:08 p.m. and first pitch is set for 2:15.
The Crimson Tide (43-19) is coming off a sweep of the Tuscaloosa Regional. Wake Forest (50-10), the top-ranked team in the country, also ran through its regional in Winston-Salem.

Alabama’s Luke Holman (7-3, 3.46 ERA) and Wake Forest’s Rhett Lowder (14-0, 1.77 ERA) are the probable starting pitchers for Game 1. The Crimson Tide are in the Super Regional round for the first time since 2010. With two wins in the best-of-three series, Alabama would advance to the College World Series for the first time since 1999.
Due to a non-game-related medical event, gates will not be open at this time. The start of the game will be delayed as well. More info will be provided as it becomes available.
