Al Horford had one of his finest performances in a Boston Celtics uniform Thursday night as the home team grabbed a big win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors. Horford ended the night with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Horford was instrumental in helping the Celtics get off to a strong start. More importantly, he was the bedrock for Boston’s gutsy comeback in the fourth quarter and overtime. “It was important from the beginning that I came out and set the tone for our group,” Horford said after the game. “We really did a good job of staying the course and feeding off of the energy from the crowd.”
A first-quarter block against Jordan Poole may have been the highlight of the game and was one of several impressive plays from Horford throughout the evening.
“I was just out there competing,” Horford said of the play. “This type of game, at least to me, felt like it had playoff-type intensity. Those types of plays are important.”
