A'ja Wilson's dominating performance (29 PTS, 7 REB, 7 BLKS) lead the Aces to 83-75 win over Sun to even the series at 1-1.
The Jimmy Garoppolo trade is among the most-scrutinized decisions under New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. The man who rarely loses a trade seemed to do the San Francisco 49ers a favor by shipping off Garoppolo for a second-round pick. There were rumblings that the Cleveland Browns offered a much more sizable package, which begged the question as to why Belichick didn't take the best offer.
Bruins should target one of these free agents after Taylor Hall chooses Sabres originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston The Boston Bruins reportedly were among the teams in the mix for free agent winger Taylor Hall, but that's no longer an option for the Original Six club after he signed with the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night. Hall confirmed to TSN's Pierre LeBrun that it's a one-year, $8 million contract with the Sabres. It was a surprising move given Hall's recent comments about wanting to win and the Sabres being one of the worst teams in the NHL for the last eight years.
In the 17 seasons that Ben Roethlisberger has been the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw had not spoken directly with him. As a longtime football analyst, Bradshaw has said all he needed to about Ben from behind the desk at FOX NFL or through the media. At times, the 4-time Super Bowl champ has been very critical of Roethlisberger.
With two minutes remaining on Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings gambled with a chance to put away the Seattle Seahawks. Facing fourth-and-1 at the Seahawks 6-yard line while holding a five-point lead, the Vikings decided to go for it. Kirk Cousins handed the ball to Alexander Mattison, who was stuffed on the right side of the line for no gain.
Tom Brady praises LeBron James for fourth NBA title with amazing meme originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston Tom Brady couldn't have picked a more perfect meme to praise Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James for winning his fourth NBA championship. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback appeared to make a mental mistake late in his team's Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears last Thursday. It looked like he forgot which down it was on the Bucs' final offensive play of the game.
One of the biggest criticisms around the NFL world that Washington head coach Ron Rivera was facing last week was the fact that he benched starting QB Dwayne Haskins after just four weeks of the 2020 season, ending his run at the man in charge with just 11 NFL starts under his belt. Many thought that this was way too soon, and Rivera should have given the second-year QB more time to prove himself as the guy going forward. For 11 weeks he was our starter,” Rivera said via NBC Sports Washington. “It's interesting because we went through training camp and gave him every rep with the [first team] in terms of trying to develop him and get him ready to go.
Joe Morgan, the Hall of Fame second baseman who became the sparkplug of the Big Red Machine and the prototype for baseball's artificial turf era, has died. Morgan was suffering from a nerve condition, a form of polyneuropathy. Morgan's death marked the latest among major league greats this year: Whitey Ford, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Tom Seaver and Al Kaline.
After the Jets suffered their fifth-straight loss, Bell was seen liking tweets that said head coach Adam Gase needed to use him more than the one target he got in the passing game. During a conference call with reporters on Monday, Gase addressed Bell's actions, saying that he wished frustrated players would just come to him instead of going on social media to speak their mind. “I hate that's the route that we go with all of this instead of just talking to me about it, but it is the way guys want to do it nowadays,” Gase said.
Amid the backdrop of a strange, shortened 2020 campaign that had fits and starts because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Mets and Yankees had very different seasons. The Mets, due in part to losing their No. 2 and No. 3 starters (one due to injury, one due to a COVID opt-out) and also due to their own preventable on-field failures, missed the playoffs. The Yankees also eventually failed due to the state of their starting rotation, but they made the playoffs and were a game away from advancing to the ALCS.
The Detroit Lions may be on bye this week, but that did not stop Fox analyst Terry Bradshaw from calling for Matt Patricia's job as Lions head coach for the second time in three weeks. "Patricia, in Detroit, can't coach," Bradshaw said during Fox's Sunday pregame show. Bradshaw said in September, before the Lions' only win of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, that both Patricia and Lions general manager Bob Quinn "should be fired" because of the team's persistent struggles during their tenure.
For one play on Sunday, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green looked like he was a lost sightseer instead of a football player. As the first quarter was winding down against the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Joe Burrow threw a pass that was meant for Green. Granted, the ball Burrow threw was way over his head, but he didn't even have his hands up — he literally just watched the ball sail over his head and into Peters' hands.
There have been a lot of dramatic and devastating knockouts in MMA history, but few were as remarkable and as emphatic as Joaquin Buckley's spinning back kick to the head of Impa Kasanganay on Saturday at UFC Fight Island 5 in Abu Dhabi. A little past the midway part of Round 2 of what had been an excellent middleweight fight, Buckley threw a left kick to the body that Kasanganay caught. As Kasanganay held Buckley's foot, Buckley pivoted and circled 360 degrees and when he came back to where he started, he kicked Kasanganay with his other foot squarely in Kasanganay's face.
The Cowboys season was already not going very well and it likely just ended after quarterback Dak Prescott seemingly broke something in his leg after a quarterback draw in the third quarter. Prescott immediately called out for help a wide receiver Michael Gallup threw his hands on his head, obviously horrified by the injury which had the Cowboys leader's foot pointing in the wrong direction. Andy Dalton will takeover quarterback duties for what will likely be the rest of the season
Lewis Hamilton has aimed a thinly-veiled slight at Sir Jackie Stewart after accusing Formula One's past legends of always speaking negatively about him. Hamilton will become the sport's most decorated driver after drawing level with Michael Schumacher's win record following his 91st career triumph at Sunday's Eifel Grand Prix. Ahead of the Nurburgring race, Stewart, 81, said he could never regard Hamilton among F1's greatest drivers.
The writing is on the wall for Dwayne Haskins in Washington. Head coach Ron Rivera benched Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen earlier this week, sending the 2019 15th overall pick to the bench just four weeks into the season. Haskins wasn't only demoted to the backup role; he's now third on Washington's depth chart behind Alex Smith.
With the Lakers in hot pursuit, the Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers held quite the celebratory press conference to introduce Leonard and Paul George. Clippers guard Patrick Beverley reportedly gloated directly to LeBron James about the Clippers' new stars, and Beverley publicly declared the Clippers the “best team in L.A. for sure.
The Lakers' 17th NBA title was all but clinched, their lead over the Miami Heat having ballooned to 30 points as the third quarter neared an end on Sunday, but Rajon Rondo never considered easing up. The veteran guard's concentration remained as strong as it had been when he came off the bench in the first quarter with the Lakers leading by merely two points and not yet sure if they'd be able to hold off the scrappy, persistent Heat. Wisely, they listened, trusting his knowledge and instincts as they orchestrated a suffocating push that deflated Miami's hopes and set the stage for a 106-93 victory that ended with hugs and tears of joy and wild swirls of confetti at AdventHealth Arena.
With Steph and Klay back, Warriors should be NBA favorites originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington The Los Angeles Lakers just won what could go down as one of the most memorable championships in NBA history. It occurred in a bubble at Disney World amid a worldwide pandemic, happened the year of Kobe Bryant's untimely passing and earned LeBron James his fourth ring. All that said, the Lakers should not be favored to repeat and win the 2020-21 NBA championship.
In this week's edition of the NHL Power Rankings we check in with the best free agent signings that we have seen so far this offseason around the league. We tried to take into account the contract, the salary cap hit, the expected level of production, as well as the long-term risk with each deal. The latter point might drop a good player right now a little further down the rankings, because that risk definitely matters in the future.
