A.J. Pollock to miss at least six weeks after arm surgery, infection
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without outfielder A.J. Pollock for at least six weeks, according to Pedro Moura of The Athletic.
The 31-year-old Pollock is dealing with two different issues. He had surgery on his right elbow to remove six screws, but is also dealing with an infection. As a result, Pollock will receive intravenous antibiotics through a catheter in his left bicep.
The infection could take longer to heal than Pollock’s elbow, according to Moura.
A.J. Pollock will miss at least six weeks because of a central catheter inserted in his left biceps, he said. So his right arm, where he had the elbow surgery, could actually be quicker to heal than the left.

Pollock believes the infection may have come after he suffered a cut at Wrigley Field.
Pollock does not know exactly where he suffered the cut that led to the staph infection in his right elbow. He first noticed blood on his uniform in the Wrigley Field visiting clubhouse on April 25, while taking off his cleats. He might have cut himself in the clubhouse.

After spending his first seven seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pollock joined the Dodgers on a five-year deal in the offseason. In 115 plate appearances, Pollock is hitting .223/.287/.330.
