AJ Epenesa re-signs with Bills, nabs two-year extension

AJ Epenesa is stick around with the Buffalo Bills.

On Monday, the NFL’s “legal tampering period” began. That allows players to talk to potential new teams.

After being allowed to do so for just a few short hours, Epenesa has decided to return to Buffalo. The Bills inked him to a two-year extension:

Epenesa recorded 6.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons. The 26-year-old was Buffalo’s second-round pick at the 2020 NFL draft but was their top-overall selection after the team traded away their first rounder for receiver Stefon Diggs.

In addition to his sacks, Epenesa had 0 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. The recent 2023 campaign was Epenesa’s best in the NFL since heading to Buffalo.

Epenesa’s return puts him back in a pass rushing group which includes Von Miller, Greg Rousseau, Kingsley Jonathan and Kameron Cline under contract for the 2024 season. Leonard Floyd has reportedly decided to leave Buffalo, as he reportedly signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
