AHL's Charlotte Checkers throw down masterful Kiss Cam spoof
Kiss Cams are among the most cringeworthy in-game fan-engagement tactics professional sports teams have to offer, but a little creativity can turn the garbage promotion into something worth watching.
The Charlotte Checkers made the most of their sparsely-attended (as in literally no one was there) contest against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Tuesday, hitting social media full-tilt with a “behind closed doors” look at the “raucous” crowd and atmosphere at Bojangles’ Coliseum for the heated contest.

Rather than rescheduling after a winter storm dropped several inches of snow on Charlotte, the rink was closed to the public and the game was played, with only a few employees of the team, including the players, reporting for work. The team had fun with the situation on Twitter, throwing out some hilarious behind-the-scenes looks at the night.
Of many gems, the team’s best bit of the evening was the Jumbotron Kiss Cam focusing in on a big romantic cluster of empty seats.

The Checkers ended up scoring three unanswered in the final frame to cap off a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind victory, much to the pleasure of the zero fans in attendance.
