Adele postpones Las Vegas residency, citing delivery delays, COVID-19

Adele announced in a tearful video message over social media that she had to postpone her Las Vegas residency just a day before her first scheduled show, blaming delivery delays and COVID-19, for which she said half her crew had tested positive.

"I'm so sorry, but my show ain't ready. We've tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID," Adele said in a video posted on Twitter and Instagram. "Half my crew - half my team is down with COVID, they still are, and it's been impossible to finish the show."

She said she was "gutted" that she could not perform in front of her fans, apologizing to those traveling to see her. She said that she had been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure out how to keep the concerts from being canceled.

"I'm really, really sorry. I'm really sorry. We're on it. We're going to reschedule all of the dates. We're on it right now, and I'm going to finish my show. And I'm going to get it to where it's supposed to be," she said.

Adele's Las Vegas residency was slated to begin on Friday and go until April, NBC News reported.

Her latest album, "30," was released last November and sat at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 as of Thursday evening.

"I think it's definitely my most personal and most vulnerable record yet. And that's saying something, because I feel like I've always gone there before," Adele told NPR in an interview last November.

"I definitely think that my voice has matured. But I also think that my delivery on the album is because of the lyrics and what I'm singing about," she added.
