Two of the A's top prospects will be among the 18 non-roster invitees for the organization's upcoming spring training.
Tyler Soderstrom, the A's first-round draft pick in 2020 and the organization's No. 3 prospect, was among the five players added to the group on Monday. Nick Allen, the A's No. 4 prospect by MLB.com and an elite defensive talent, also will be joining the big league group for spring training.
Oakland added five new players to the group on Monday, with right-handed pitchers Parker Dunshee and Brian Howard, along with outfielder Buddy Reed, joining Allen and Soderstrom.
Reed joined the A's as the player to be named later from the Jurickson Profar trade in Dec. 2019, and the former second-round pick by the San Diego Padres is the A's No. 24 prospect by MLB.com.
The 6-foot-9 Howard was an eighth-round pick by the A's in 2017, and is the team's No. 25 ranked prospect.
Dunshee was a seventh-round pick in 2017, and the Wake Forest product put together six strong starts in Double-A during the 2019 season, but struggled in the offense-dominant Pacific Coast League once he moved up to Triple-A. Dunshee is the A's No. 27 prospect.
