After the game, Darnold downplayed the injury.
"It's fine," Darnold said. "We'll take it day-by-day at this point and see what they say tomorrow. I've had something similar, so I wasn't too worried. Once they told me they felt like I could go out there again that's when I got excited and obviously got back out there."
On Friday, though, head coach Adam Gase said it's possible Darnold will miss time.
"I think anything is on the table right now," Gase told reporters via Zoom. "I haven't really had a chance to talk to him in detail, just really when I saw him it was more about how he felt right now. That's why we've got to circle back with the doctors, we've got to circle back with the trainers."
Noting that Darnold "doesn't feel real great today," Gase said the Jets have some time to figure things out before practice resumes this coming Wednesday.
"Joe (Douglas) and myself, we'll get together with those guys and then we'll get with Sam. We just need to make sure that we lay everything out and kind of see where we go from here and what's best for him -- not just next week but long-term."
If Darnold is not ready to play for Week 5, his replacement could be Joe Flacco, who saw action on Thursday night when Darnold was out.
