Drew Silva explains how Atlanta Braves OF Adam Duvall is rebounding after a rough start to the season and what to expect as the summer begins.
DREW SILVA: Braves outfielder Adam Duvall went around pick number 200 in the average fantasy draft this spring. So he was easily drop-able as he stumbled through April and May. Now here in June, though, he's looking like one of the better waiver wire adds. The overall numbers remain a bit ugly, a .205 average and .640 OPS through 65 games as of June 19.
But Duvall has registered a .983 OPS over his last 62 plate appearances, going back to June 1. Accompanied by 6 home runs, 10 RBIs and 15 runs scored in that same 16 game stretch. And there's evidence that he can keep this rolling into the second half.
His exit velocities have almost always increased in the hot weather of July and August. Peering a bit deeper into his splits, Duvall is currently batting just .192 with a .553 OPS against right handed pitching. And while he does usually hit better against lefties, he's never been a total waste versus righties like we've seen in 2022. Expect that aspect to change and expect a strong finish from Duvall as Atlanta aims to defend its World Series crown.
