Ada boys hurry past Harrah

Feb. 1—HARRAH — The Ada High boys basketball team had a good first half against Harrah in a Tuesday night road game.

But the Cougars had a great second half.

Coach Kyle Caufield's team dominated from start to finish in a lopsided 78-30 victory over the Panthers on Pink Out night in Harrah. The Cougars, ranked No. 9 in Class 4A, improved to 14-5 on the year, while the Panthers remained winless, falling to 0-17.

"It was a good night for the Cougars," Caufield told The Ada News. "We did a really good job defensively and played with great effort and energy on that end of the floor. Defense is a big point of emphasis for us. I'm a firm believer in that end of the floor will win you a lot of games."

Ada will now turn its attention to a big home game on Friday as Class 3A No. 2 Millwood is scheduled to visit the Cougar Activity Center.

Ada 78, Harrah 30

The Cougars jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the first period and stretched their advantage to 37-20 by halftime. Ada picked up the pace in the second half, manufacturing a 23-5 run in the third quarter while ending the game on an 18-5 surge.

"I thought we did a good job of sharing the basketball, and it showed in the balance of our scoring. That's what it is going to take to beat the good and great teams," Caufield said. "If you are playing the right way and making the right basketball decisions, good things are going happen."

Deante Lindsay led the AHS balanced offensive attack with a game-high 17 points. He finished 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Carter Colombe was next with 11 points and sophomore Miilan Riley also hit double figures with 10.

Tremain Gray and Caron Richardson both scored eight points for Ada, while Devon MacCollister chipped in seven.

Colome and MacCollister hit Ada's only 3-pointers of the contest.

Brendan Tison drained four 3-pointers for all of his 12 points to lead the way for Harrah. Landen Schmidt was next with five points for the home team.

The Cougars finished 13-of-19 from the free-throw line. Harrah made 5-of-9 free shots.
