Actor Eric Stonestreet welcomed new Chiefs WR Josh Gordon to Kansas City

Notable Chiefs fan Eric Stonestreet has been showing all that Kansas City has to offer to one of the newest members of the team.

Stonestreet has consistently shown his fandom at games, on social media, and as alter ego Randy Reid, the brother of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. This week, Stonestreet was putting in more work for the Chiefs as he introduced newly-signed wide receiver Josh Gordon to Garozzo’s Ristorante. The classic Italian restaurant has been located in downtown Kansas City since 1989 and they tweeted a photo from Stonestreet and Gordon’s visit.

Gordon, fresh off of making his Kansas City debut against Buffalo in Week 5, spoke about the experience and being welcomed to the city as a member of the Chiefs.

“It’s been a rapid, I guess, acceptance to Kansas City,” Gordon told reporters on Friday. “And it’s been well received by me. I love it, and it’s a great restaurant with good food. (Eric) Stonestreet is a great guy, he’s showing me the ropes a little bit as far as the community goes and what places to try to check off the list when I get time. But it’s been amazing to have that type of support my first week here. (I) enjoy the camaraderie of the city in the community and I look to get behind that just as much as they do me.”

Before signing with the Chiefs, Gordon was suspended indefinitely due to multiple substance abuse violations that have plagued his promising career. He made sure to acknowledge his journey back to the field and the impact of the fans in Kansas City.

“Through this experience, I think most of all, it’s just staying focused,” said Gordon. “And you have to have an extreme level of focus if you want to do anything consistently well in life. And I think, perseverance and gratitude, just appreciation for every day being able to wake up being healthy. Having the resources I have at my disposal to use and go out there and get what it is that I desire most in life and that right now is playing football in the NFL, and we’re able to be here.

“It’s electric here at Arrowhead, even getting to watch in Philly. You know Philly, but Kansas City is good. It was good to see the people back in the stands. It was good to see, you know, the offense really ball. It was just to see the emotions of it all kind of quarterback game and say, ‘OK, this is where I want to be. This is what it was all meant for.’ So I couldn’t be happier.”

Gordon had one reception in last Sunday’s loss to the Bills, but it was a nice preview for Chiefs fans everywhere of what is to come this season.
