AC Milan confident they will sign Marouane Fellaini after Manchester United contract expires

AC Milan are increasingly confident they can prize Marouane Fellaini away from Manchester United this summer as they look to snap him up on a free transfer.

The Belgian’s Old Trafford contract expires next month meaning he is free to enter into talks with any club – although he has not ruled out staying at United, with the club still expected to make an improved offer for him.

Milan are the other offer currently on the table for him and their sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli confirmed on Sunday that the Serie A side believe he will leave United.

“Fellaini? He could be an important player,” Mirabelli said. “In fact, he is an important player. “We know that he is not renewing his contract with Manchester United, but it is difficult to say if we have closed it.

“He has important parameters. We will do something in that role, but with maximum discretion. We will close a deal first before we announce a player.”

United have not yet met Fellaini’s wage demands, believed to be in the region of £120,000-a-week, with Milan willing to table a three-year deal.
