Aaron Rodgers to Justin Jefferson: ‘Best player on the field’

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed what he told Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson following Sunday’s loss when he called him the best player on the field at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 1.

The NFL caught the interaction post-game on Sunday, and Rodgers said it again Tuesday.

“I’ll you what I told Justin after the game, I said he was the best player on the field, and I meant it, I didn’t say it tongue in cheek,” Rodgers told “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. I’ve been a fan of his since I watched him in college. He’s a dynamic player who is an excellent route runner.”

Jefferson, a first-round pick of the Vikings in 2020, caught nine passes for a career-high 184 yards and two scores.

Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP, paid him another incredible compliment: Comparing Jefferson’s ability at the line of scrimmage to former teammate Davante Adams.

“A lot of his release stuff looks pretty similar to 17,” Rodgers said.

Jefferson caught the game-opening touchdown pass to put the Vikings up 7-0, and his second touchdown gave Minnesota a 17-0 lead in the first half.

The Packers couldn’t figure out a way to cover him.

“He was the difference maker, I think, for the entire game,” Rodgers said. “Justin was the difference in the game.”
