Through the first half-dozen games of the season, perhaps no one in the NBA G League has played better than Philadelphia 76ers rookie Paul Reed and the second-round pick ranks among the leaders in several categories, as a result.

Reed, in his latest performance on Friday, scored 23 points and 10 rebounds to help the Delaware Blue Coats improve to 6-0 with a win over the Long Island Nets. He shot 9-of-12 from the field while making all three 3-point attempts in 26 minutes of work.

With the effort on Friday, the 58th overall pick is now averaging 23.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.7 blocks in six games played. Reed ranks second in total scoring, fourth in rebounds, fourth in steals and 10th in blocked shot. His six double-doubles lead all players.

Reed said this week that he set high expectations for himself and his team coming into the bubble, and the 21-year-old has delivered on them. He already has a G League Player of the Week award under his belt, and if he can keep up his current pace, several others could come in the future.
