There's a good chance living in quarantine has offered more insight into the way you consume. If you want to embrace sustainability, it's more attainable than you think. Believe it or not, you don't have to dump everything you currently have. There are more eco-friendly products out there that are easy to incorporate into your daily life than you realize. Take a look at these six day-to-day products that are better for you and the planet.
Think about how many times you’ve lost or broken your hair ties. Instead of leaving elastics on the ground, opt for the biodegradable Terra Ties which are made from organic cotton and natural rubber. This is one of those eco-friendly everyday products that’s really easy to swap.
2. Casetify Custom Compostable Case, $50
New smartphones drop nearly every year and the plastic we go through to protect them also impacts our planet. Casetify has an entire line of 100 percent compostable (and personalized) iPhone cases. That way, when you get the latest phone, you can protect your gadget and the environment.
3. Eco Gloves, $14.75-$15.76
Cleaning has been one of the biggest themes of this year. However, if you want to get more eco-conscious in your cleaning products, consider Eco Gloves. Biodegradable and compostable, these gloves are ideal for the current times. Use them when you’re out and socially distancing or use them to cut veggies, dye your hair, clean the house and so much more.
4. The HoneyPot Regular Herbal Menstrual Pads, 20 count, $6.39 (Orig. $7.99)
The Honey Pot’s entire line is filled with biodegradable and cruelty-free period and wellness products. The Black-owned brand offers pesticide-free cotton pads formulated without harsh chemicals or artificial fragrance. Not to mention, there are specific pad sizes to choose from depending on your flow.
5. Shop: Walnut Scouring Pad, $2.75
It’s easy to toss another sponge in your cart, but Public Goods carries these Walnut Scouring Pads that are just as good. The pad is made from recycled fibers and ground walnut shells. It’s a good sustainable alternative that cleans your dirty dishes without adding more waste.
6. Hydros Water Bottle, $20
As humans, we buy a million plastic bottles per minute. On top of that, 91 percent of plastic goes unrecycled according to National Geographic. The Hydros water bottle is a more permanent, smart, budget-friendly and sustainable option. The 20-ounce bottle is made from 100 percent coconut shell carbon. Not to mention, it also filters water from any source in about 20 seconds.
It’s the little things that contribute to pollution, but if you dig deep enough, there are sustainable replacements to swipe and swap everywhere.
