5-star freshman Georgia RB Zamir White tears left ACL
Georgia was looking to rebuild its running back depth in 2018 after the departures of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Zamir White will likely not be a part of that depth.
According to multiple reports including Rivals’ UGASports.com, White suffered a torn left ACL during a scrimmage on Saturday.
“Yeah, he was on punt cover. He was covering a punt. And it was a non-contact injury. There was nobody really around,” Kirby Smart told reporters after the scrimmage. “He and Mark Webb were kind of holding each other up. But we don’t know anything yet. He’s getting an MRI right now. So it’s a left knee. It’s his non-surgical knee. I can’t tell you much more than that.”
Smart’s comments came before the revelation that White’s knee injury was a torn ACL. The rehab time will undoubtedly keep him out for the rest of the season barring a surprise.

D’Andre Swift enters season as top RB
D’Andre Swift was the third back behind Chubb and Michel in 2017 and figured to take the role of the leader in 2018. Swift had 618 yards and three touchdowns as Georgia made it to the national title game and averaged 7.6 yards a carry.
White figured to be a big part of the running back rotation if he was healthy. Without him, Elijah Holyfield, Brian Herrien and freshman James Cook could get more carries. Per UGA Sports, White was running with the third and fourth teams in fall camp.
White now has torn ACLs in both knees
White was ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the country and the No. 1 running back in the class of 2018 according to Rivals. That was despite missing the last part of his high school season because of a torn ACL in his right knee.
