For the record: Both teams have dominated in the tournament season, though Brush did have a relatively close game against Rocky River in the district final at Perry. ... This is Brush's first regional performance in 13 years. The freshman guard tandem of Chaniyra McDowell-Isaacs (22 points) and Tatiana Mason (19 points) led the Arcs in the win over Rocky River. Brooklynn Vickers, the team's top 3-point threat, had nine and 6-foot-2 Jakalyn Brown had eight. Defensive pressure is Brush's forte, one which they've relied upon all season. ... Magnificat has won five in a row since a 51-46 loss to Gilmour on Feb. 6. For what it's worth, Brush defeated Gilmour by 15 early in the season. Magnificat has peaked of late with wins over Akron SVSM and Solon, among others. They were led by Reese Roggenburk's 13 in a district final against Mentor, with Julia Hall scoring 12 and Emma Wichmann pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.
