49ers release WR Taysir Mack

The 49ers on Friday announced the release of undrafted rookie wide receiver Taysir Mack. There was no corresponding addition.

Mack joined the club following a five-year college career that included. one season at the Indiana University and four with the University of Pittsburgh. The 6-2, 190-pound receiver caught 161 balls for 2,369 yards and 12 touchdowns in 45 college games.

San Francisco may have another player in mind that they’d like to add to the roster and they’ve just not filled Mack’s roster spot yet. They might also be preemptively cutting their roster down since they’ll be required to drop their 90-man group to 85 following the first preseason game on Aug. 12.
