49ers RB Wilson likely to make first start of season vs. Jags originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

SANTA CLARA -- Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. is in line to make his first start of the season Sunday when the 49ers return to action against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Rookie running back Elijah Mitchell, the team's leading rusher, is listed as doubtful for the 49ers' Week 11 game. He sustained a fractured right middle finger in the first half of the 49ers' 31-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

Mitchell continued to play without informing anyone on the 49ers' medical staff of his injury. Only the day after his 27-carry, 91-yard performance was it revealed he sustained a fracture. He underwent a procedure on Tuesday to insert a pin into his fractured finger.

Wilson made his season debut on Monday night, carrying the ball 10 times for 28 yards. He was the team's leading rusher last season with 600 yards and seven touchdowns and a 4.8-yard average.

Wilson spent the first eight games this season on the physically-unable-to-perform list after sustaining torn cartilage during an off-field incident in May. He underwent major surgery to repair his meniscus.

Running back JaMycal Hasty was ruled out for the second game in a row with an ankle injury. Rookie Trey Sermon will likely serve as Wilson's backup on Sunday. Sermon is the 49ers' second-leading rusher with 135 yards and a 4.4 average.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shin), offensive tackle Jaylon Moore (knee) and CB Josh Norman (rib) went through full practices and were cleared to play. Coach Kyle Shanahan said it has yet to be determined whether Moore or veteran Tom Compton will start at right tackle.

The 49ers are expected to activate linebacker Dre Greenlaw (core) and safety Jaquiski Tartt (knee) off injured reserve to be available to face the Jaguars.
