49ers injury update: Jeff Wilson Jr. may have high ankle sprain

The 49ers on Sunday got a big win over the New England Patriots, but it wasn’t all good news coming out of the locker room. Head coach Kyle Shanahan in his postgame press conference indicated Jeff Wilson Jr., Deebo Samuel and Richie James Jr. are all dealing with injuries after the game.

Shanahan said the team fears a high ankle sprain for Wilson. He went down when his ankle got rolled at the end of his third touchdown run. Wilson would join Raheem Mostert, Jimmy Garoppolo and Kwon Alexander as 49ers dealing with that specific injury.

Samuel left the game late after he tried a run to the left side. He came up lame at the end of the run and immediately grabbed for the back of his leg. It initially appeared he may have been favoring his knee, but Shanahan said it’s a hamstring injury of unknown severity.

James is dealing with an ankle injury, but the severity of that one is unknown as well.

More updates will likely come Monday when Shanahan speaks with reporters.

UPDATE:

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported X-rays were negative on Wilson and the running back avoided significant damage.
