49ers-Giants predictions: Experts see SF win despite injuries originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Although the 49ers covered the spread in last week's 31-13 win over the New York Jets, it proved to be a costly one. Stars like Nick Bosa, Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert suffered lower-body injuries and won't be joining the 49ers as they take the same field in Week 3 against the New York Giants.
The Giants weren't spared from the carnage that was Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season, as New York's star running back, Saquon Barkley, went down with a season-ending knee injury in the team's loss to the Chicago Bears.
The 49ers simply will be looking for a win with so many starters out of the lineup before flying back to the Bay Area, while the Giants still are seeking their first win in 2020.
Line: SF -3.5

The Giants are a better team on paper than the lowly Jets, but especially without Barkley carrying the load, New York's offense doesn't feature a multitude of weapons. Fred Warner and what's left of the 49ers defense should be able to keep the Giants from racking up many yards or points.
With quarterback Nick Mullens anchoring the offense, it remains to be seen how he'll perform in his first meaningful live game action since 2018. Expect a steady diet of Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson Jr. in the run game with Mostert and Tevin Coleman out, as Shanahan isn't likely to throw it a lot without his QB1.
San Francisco should be able to put up points regardless, but this one likely will be very close to that line. Given all the circumstances surrounding this brutal trip, Shanahan and Co. will be happy just to get out with a win.
